A. The definition of narrative text

Narrative text is a story with complication or problematic events and it tries to find the resolutions to solve the problems. An important part of narrative text is the narrative mode, the set of methods used to communicate the narrative through a process narration.

B. The purpose of narrative text

The Purpose of Narrative Text is to amuse or to entertain the reader with a story.

C. Generic Structures of Narrative Text

1) Orientation

Sets the scene: where and when the story happened and introduces the participants of the story: who and what is involved in the story.

2) Complication

Tells the beginning of the problems which leads to the crisis (climax) of the main participants.

3) Resolution

The problem (the crisis) is resolved, either in a happy ending or in a sad (tragic) ending

4) Re-orientation/Coda

This is a closing remark to the story and it is optional. It consists  of  a  moral  lesson,  advice  or  teaching  from  the writer

Time Expressions pada Simple Past Tense

Berikut beberapa time expression (keterangan waktu) yang dapat digunakan pada simple past tense.

yesterday (kemarin) last night/week/month/year/time (semalam / minggu lalu / tahun lalu / waktu yang lalu) this morning (pagi ini) one hour/day/week/month/year ago (satu jam/hari/minggu/bulan/tahun lalu) in January (di bulan Januari) in 1999 (pada tahun 1999) on Saturday (pada hari Sabtu) when + S + verb-2 (when he arrived, when I was stuck in traffic jam)

Contoh Kalimat Simple Past Tense

2	He ignored my call last week. (Dia mengacuhkan telepon saya minggu lalu.)

 2 years ago, I came to a concert at Grand Pramuka City Mall, I saw the Nissa Sabyan concert
Events:
 I went to the Nissa Sabyan concert at night with my friends there, it was so crowded that when I was at the mall it was full of people who were watching the event.
Reorientation:
 I am very happy to be able to saw Nissa Sabyan singing live and it became one of my pleasant experiences
